An Introduction to the Parker 51 Collection
After eleven years of development, the first Parker 51 fountain pen hit the market in 1941. It was made to celebrate the brand's 51st anniversary (1939) and quickly became one of the world's most popular pens. There have been many variations of the Parker 51 models, and they remain a favourite among writers and pen collectors.
About the Nib
This modern adaptation of the Parker 51 nib continues the signature style of its predecessors, featuring a conical shape inspired by fighter jets. The precious resin grip has a gloss-black finish with chrome-plated trims. The hooded tip covers a stainless steel writing point, designed to provide a wonderfully smooth writing experience.
Which pens will this nib fit?
The nib is compatible with the modern version of Parker 51 fountain pens (released post-2021), with a black barrel and chrome trims. Sadly, the nib is not compatible with older models as the fittings for the barrel differ in size.
How to change the nib:
- Step 1: Unscrew the old grip section/nib attached to your pen
- Step 2: At this stage, we recommend removing the ink cartridge or converter (if applicable) and giving the old nib a good clean if you plan to keep it. It's also a good idea to clean your converter before using it with your new nib.
- Step 3: You can insert a fresh ink cartridge or your converter into the new nib, then screw the nib into the barrel of your pen
- Step 4: Start writing and enjoy!
Fun Fact: Did you know fountain pens with a hooded nib are thought to be more resistant to drying out, because the hooded section protects the feed from exposure to air.
