HB graded pencils like the Faber-Castell Sparkle are great for sketching and building a foundation before using other instruments to finalise your design. This is because HB lead is in the middle of the lead-grading spectrum. It's not too dark and not too light. It's recommended to start with a HB pencil when you're sketching a design, before adding darker details with other pencils or tools.
