Launched in 2017, Diamine’s range of shimmering inks are really something to behold – vibrant greens like Golden Ivy and Spearmint Diva, deep blues like Cobalt Jazz or Arabian Nights, rich reds like Caramel Sparkle or Firestorm Red and even yellows and oranges, like Golden Sands or Citrus Ice. They are the perfect partners to bullet journaling, calligraphy or ink-based art, and can be used in fountain pens (unlike most shimmer inks) because the gold or silver particles are so fine and well-dispersed. They’re water-based, acid-free and non-toxic.
They’ve caused quite a storm in the pen addict and calligraphy communities online and on Instagram, with people swatching them and showing how the work on different papers in in different lights. Thinking of having a go yourself? Although they will look beautiful with any nib, broad, flex or stub nibs are said to be best to fully show off their shimmery capabilities. A top tip is to keep your pen moving gently after filling it and during use so that the particles can’t settle and you get an even flow of glitter from the nib. Go forth and create inky magic!
